The Coral MC-8 is a microcontroller designed and manufactured by the Bolton-based electronics company, Ultra Infrared Systems (UIS). The MC-8 is based on the popular 80C51 architecture and features 144 bytes of in-system programmable data memory, 64 bytes of EEPROM, 36 I/O lines, and a clock oscillator. It operates at a frequency of up to 16 MHz and is capable of handling complex real-world applications such as industrial automation, home automation, and consumer electronics. Other notable features of the MC-8 include instruction set compatibility with popular 8051 derivatives, an interesting timing option called 'Watch Window Mode', and a compact packaging option of 20 pins SOIC housing.
