Brand: Coral

Coral 555 SX is a specialized type of CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) display technology that was commonly used in teletext and cable television decoders during the 1980s and 1990s. It was designed to be compact, energy-efficient, and to display text and graphics with high contrast and driving stability. The "Coral" brand was developed by Amtsler Partners AG, a Swiss company that specialized in telecommunications technology, and the "555" and "SX" designations referred to the specific models of the Coral display tube. The Coral 555 SX had a diagonal screen size of 25 cm (9.84 inches) and a resolution of 480x360 pixels, which provided clear and sharp text and graphics in teletext and closed captioning displays.Compared to other CRT display technologies, such as the common submarine IR61 color display or the F15 standard color display, the Coral 555 SX had many unique features. It had a high contrast ratio of 400:1, which allowed for easy reading of text and graphics, even in dimly lit environments. The driving stability was also exceptional, which allowed for improved response times and sharpness. However, with the advent of flat-panel displays, including LCD and OLED screens, CRT display technology has become obsolete. As a result, Coral 555 SX is no longer produced, but CRT displays with Coral tubes, such as the ones found in teletext and cable TV decoders, can still be found in some vintage electronics today.
