Brand: Fairchild

The Fairchild 216 A is a type of bipolar junction transistor (BJT) that was manufactured by Fairchild Semiconductor in the past. It is anpn (pnp) transistor, which means that it has a p-type base sandwiched between two n-type regions, forming a three-layer structure. This particular transistor, designated as the Fairchild 216 A, was available in a TO-39 package and could handle a collector-emitter voltage (VCE) of up to 30 V with a maximum collector current (IC) of 200 mA. Its typical maximum collector-emitter feedback capacitance (CBE) was 120 pF and it had a hfe (common-emitter current gain) of around 100. The Fairchild 216 A is commonly used in applications such as audio amplifiers, switching, and linear power supplies where its relatively high voltage handling capacity and moderate current gain are beneficial. However, it is no longer commonly used today as there are newer and more advanced transistors available on the market.
