Brand: Decca
The Decca Mark V E (Enhanced) is a multichannel recording format developed by Decca Records in the 1970s. It was an enhancement to the existing Decca Mark V format, which was designed for stereo recordings. The Decca Mark V E used a technique called "XCD" (eXpanded Channel Distribution), which allowed for the creation of a 7.1 surround sound mix with an extra channel dedicated to low-frequency effects. The format became popular in the 1980s and was used by Decca Records to record a number of classical and orchestral music pieces that were later released on CD. The Decca Mark V E has since been superseded by newer surround sound formats like Dolby Digital and DTS, but it remains an important historical milestone in the evolution of multichannel audio recording technology.
