Brand: Decca

The Decca FFSS mkI (short for Face Fitting Steering System Mark I) was a navigation system designed by the British Royal Navy in the 1950s. It used short range radio beacons to transmit signals to the ship's receiver, allowing it to determine its position relative to the original signal location. This technology was especially useful in convoys and submarine tracking as it provided more accurate information than traditional celestial navigation methods. The Decca system was used widely by the British and other allied navies until the development of more advanced satellite navigation systems in the 1980s.
