The Revox A720 is a high-end professional audio recorder that was first introduced in the late 1980s. It uses a half-inch (12.7 mm) open-reel format capable of recording at speeds of 3.75, 7.5, 15, 30, and 37.5 inches per second (ips) in both quarter-track and full-track configurations. The machine also features a built-in equalizer, Dolby noise reduction (A and B), and external word clock input and output capabilities. It is known for its exceptional sound quality, robust build, and versatile application, making it a popular choice among audio engineers, broadcasters, and archivists. The Revox A720 is still in production by the Swiss manufacturer Lynx Audio in a new version called the A730.
