Brand: Pickering
The Pickering TL-2 is a thermoluminescence (TL) dosimeter, developed by the Pickering Laboratories, Inc. In the late 1960s. It is a small, rectangular device that measures cumulative exposure to ionizing radiation, such as gamma rays or X-rays. In a TL dosimeter, radiation causes some of the molecules inside the device to become "trapped," or unable to return to their original state. When the dosimeter is heated, these trapped molecules release excess energy in the form of light, indicating the amount of radiation exposure that has occurred. The Pickering TL-2 follows the traditional TL model, however, with improvements in technology, newer TL dosimeters have been developed which utilize more advanced materials and methods for increased sensitivity and accuracy.
