Brand: Pickering
The Pickering TL-3 is a type of solar cell technology developed by the University of Toronto's Pickering Laboratories (now known as the Edward S. Rogers Sr. Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering). It is a high-efficiency solar cell that uses a tandem cell design that combines multiple layers of photovoltaic materials to convert a broader spectrum of sunlight into electricity, resulting in a higher solar conversion rate. The TL-3 solar cell achieved a certified conversion efficiency of 34.7% in 2019, setting a new world record for single-junction solar cells. This technology has the potential to significantly improve the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of solar cells for commercial and residential applications.
