The VPI Industries TNT HR-X is a high-end turntable model that combines the latest technology and design innovations from VPI. The "HR" in its name stands for Historic Re-imagining, indicating a reimagining of the classic TNT design.The TNT HR-X features a bearing housing made with quantities of German rock wool for improved sonic performance and reduced vibrations that could negatively affect sound quality. The platter is made from a special type of high-density micro-laced MDF equipped with an extended-wear mat, further reducing vibrations that could cause unwanted sounds.The TNT HR-X has been upgraded with an armboard sandwich assembly comprising a dual-layer carbon/glass hybrid material dampened with a similar-density wet-sand preparing technique as in the original TNT Standard.The tonearm: a 12" Meadows models 282-LS, follows a compliance curve that is close to that of a moving coil cartridge. The tonearm wiring, made by VPI, has been upgraded from previous 110-ohm wire to 6Nr99 Copper for better sound quality.VPI's HR-X turntable's engineering team has worked with some of the world's best technology firms such as Cadence (Computer Aided Design), MTS Systems Corporation (Testing and Simulation), and MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) to help design verification testing that has led to the patented VPI Nogger bearing assembly.The VPI Industries TNT HR-X is a premium turntable designed with materials and technology that enhances the overall performance and tone of your vinyl collection, allowing you to experience your music in a whole new way.
