Brand: Vincent

The Vincent SP-993 is a high-performance sports car manufactured by Vincent Motorcycle Company in the UK during the 1950s. It was an evolution of the Vincent Black Shadow and Black Prince models, which were already renowned for their exceptional speed and handling. The SP-993 was designed by Phil Vincent, son of the company founder, and featured several notable improvements over its predecessors. These included:• A more aerodynamic body, which reduced drag and improved stability at high speeds.• Increased engine displacement, which resulted in a maximum output of 124 hp (91 kW) at 6,700 rpm.• A rigid chassis with a lower center of gravity, which allowed for sharper handling and better roadholding.• Prickly trapezoidal twin headlights, which gave the car a distinctive look. The SP-993's engine was derived from the Black Shadow's 998 cc (61.0 ci) V-twin unit, but with several significant modifications. A high-lift camshaft, larger valves, and a higher compression ratio were among the upgrades that boosted its power output and contributed to its outstanding performance. The car could reach an estimated top speed of 185 mph (298 km/h) and accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in around 3 seconds, making it one of the fastest production cars of its era.The SP-993's production run was brief, with only a handful of units built between 1955 and 1957. This scarcity has contributed to its status as a highly sought-after collector's item today, with particularly well-preserved examples fetching impressive sums at auction.Overall, the Vincent SP-993 represented a pinnacle of British sports car engineering in the mid-1950s, and remains a testament to the vision and skill of its creator, Phil Vincent.
