The Toshiba PC-E50 was a line of personal computers introduced by Toshiba in 1992. It was designed as a business-oriented machine, and featured a compact design, with a slim form factor and a sleek black metal case. The PC-E50 series ran on a 25 MHz Intel i386SX CPU and came with either 1 or 2 MB of RAM. It had a number of expansion slots, including an ISA bus slot, and supported standard I/O ports such as a serial port, parallel port, and a keyboard/mouse port. The hard drive capacity ranged from 40 MB to 540 MB, depending on the model. The PC-E50 series featured a variety of multimedia capabilities, including integrated speaker audio, a VGA graphics adapter, and support for IBM's VGA-compatible 640x480 resolution Color Graphics Adapter (CGA) and Monochrome Display Adapter (MDA).One of the unique features of the PC-E50 series was the use of a touch-driven LCD panel in place of a traditional keyboard. This was called SoftKeyboardTD, and it allowed users to control the computer using a touch-sensitive display and stylus. This was designed to be particularly helpful for business users who frequently traveled and needed to work in small spaces, as it eliminated the need for a separate keyboard.Overall, the Toshiba PC-E50 series was a well-designed, versatile machine that offered a number of features and capabilities that were particularly useful for business users.
