Brand: Thorens

The Thorens TD520 mkI is a high-end turntable manufactured by the Swiss audio equipment brand Thorens. The mkI, or mark one, refers to the initial version of this particular model, which was introduced in the late 1990s as a successor to the popular TD160 model. The TD520 mkI features a high-mass MDF (medium-density fiberboard) plinth with a glossy finish, a one-piece sub-platter made of bronze, and a two-part acrylic platter. The tonearm is the Thorens TP92, which is made of aluminum with a hollow brass post and a keroked bearing. The turntable comes with Thorens' FC45 cartridge pre-mounted on the headshell.Compared to its predecessor, the TD520 mkI made significant improvements in terms of sound quality and engineering. It has a lower noise floor, higher tracking ability, and a more stable and consistent speed performance thanks to advanced internal electronics and a recommended AC power supply. The result is a turntable that delivers exceptional sound quality, with a rich, detailed, and musical presentation of recorded audio.Overall, the Thorens TD520 mkI remains a sought-after collectors' item among audiophiles and vinyl enthusiasts, thanks to its balanced blend of modern engineering and traditional craftsmanship.
