Brand: Sonovox

The Sonovox MC-4 is a vintage speech synthesizer that was popular in the 1960s and 1970s. It used a technique called light beam synthesis to create spoken words by scanning a set of pre-recorded audio samples across a rotating disc. The disc contained over 2000 word fragments, allowing the user to create simple phrases and sentences by selecting the appropriate sequences. The resulting speech was extremely robotic and synthetic, due in part to the limited sample rate (around 400 Hz) and the use of large, high-powered incandescent light bulbs to illuminate the spinning disc. Despite its limitations, the Sonovox MC-4 was frequently used in film and television productions, particularly in sci-fi and spy movies, due to its unique and distinct sound. The Sonovox MC-4 has since become a collectible item for vintage synthesizer enthusiasts.
