Brand: Pluto
Pluto Type 3 is a term used in the PARSEC (PARallel SElected Candidate) mission, which aims to search for Kuiper Belt objects that could potentially host subsurface oceans and therefore be habitable. More specifically, Pluto Type 3 refers to a group of objects within the Kuiper Belt that have sufficient mass and size to exhibit tectonic activity and potentially develop subsurface oceans. These objects are considered to be in the middle size range between Pluto Type 2 (smaller and less massive objects that do not experience tectonic activity) and Pluto Type 1 (larger and more massive objects that have already experienced geological activity). Pluto Type 3 objects are thought to be relatively rare, with only a few estimated to exist in the Kuiper Belt. Nonetheless, they are of great scientific interest and warrant further study.
