Brand: Nakamichi
The Nakamichi 700ZXE is a high-end cassette deck and amplifier system that was introduced in 1988 by the Japanese audio equipment manufacturer Nakamichi. The 700ZXE features advanced technologies such as Crystal Length Control, Saturated Quantum Bias, and Direct-Signal SEM (Shockless Encoding Modulation) that provided superior sound quality. The Crystal Length Control (CLC) feature adjusts the length of crystals in the record/playback head assembly depending on the recording format, which improves the tracking accuracy and reduces wow and flutter. The Saturated Quantum Bias (SQB) reduces distortion and improves dynamic range by increasing the sensitivity of the capstan servo system. The Direct-Signal SEM (DSP-SEM) feature direct-reads the digital signals which results in much lower decoding errors compared to traditional approaches. The Nakamichi 700ZXE also has a powerful equalizer, inbuilt Dolby B/C/S decoder and noise reduction circuits, adjustable D.C. Response correction, and phase meter for alignment adjustments, making it suitable for high-fidelity recording and playback.Overall, the Nakamichi 700ZXE was considered a benchmark for cassette deck and amplifier technology in the late 1980s because of its superior sound quality, advanced features, and striking design. However, with the rise of compact disc players in the early 1990s, the cassette format gradually declined in popularity, leading to the phasing out of this product line.
