The Mitsubishi DA-R25 is a lightweight, single-seat, jet-powered aircraft primarily designed as a lead-in fighter trainer. It is manufactured by Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation, a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, based in Japan. The DA-R25 features a compact, delta wing configuration with a length of 9.3 meters and a wingspan of 6.2 meters. It is equipped with a powerful Pratt & Whitney Canada JTF1A turbofan engine that produces 22.2 kilonewtons (5,000 pounds) of thrust. The aircraft is capable of achieving speeds of up to 1,100 kilometers per hour (680 miles per hour) and a maximum altitude of 15,500 meters (50,850 feet). The DA-R25 is currently in service with the Japanese Air Self-Defense Force and has undergone several upgrades, including avionics and weapons capability enhancements. The aircraft is intended to be a bridge training platform between basic jet training on the Mitsubishi AT-39B and the advanced JASDF fighter aircraft, such as the F-2A and F-35A Lightning II.
