The McIntosh MA5200 is a high-performance 2-channel vacuum tube integrated amplifier. It features two chassis, one dedicated to the amplifier stages and the other for the tube preamplifier and signal switching. The amplifier is rated at 125 watts per channel with both tubes (2 x 6AS7) operating in parallel, or 62 watts per channel with a single tube per channel. The tube preamp section employs 12AX7 and 12AT7 tubes and provides adjustable input sensitivity and gain, a balanced input, home theater bypass, and a phono input. The amplifier's advanced solid-state circuitry includes power supply regulation circuits for improved performance and reliability. Additionally, separate power transformers and voltage regulators for the amplifier and preamplifier stages help maximize system performance. The MA5200 comes with a heavy-duty steel chassis, an updated version of McIntosh's Power Guard® protection circuit, front and rear panel LED indicators, and a pair of premium gold-plated binding posts per channel for speaker connections.
