The name "Fifty Two" refers to the total number of components, including drivers, capacitors, and resistors, used within the speaker.The KLH Fifty Two features a unique open-baffle design, which eliminates the need for a conventional speaker cabinet. Instead, the drivers are mounted directly to the front panel, allowing for a more open and transparent sound. Additionally, the SA15 woofer, which is the most membrane area ever used in a loudspeaker, provides unmatched bass response.The midrange and tweeter drivers are bolted directly to the front panel, creating a very low-distortion output. The tweeter is a 1-inch (25mm) proprietary high-frequency driver with a ferrofluid-cooled magnet structure for minimal compression distortion.The cabinet is made from shop-sawn Baltic Birch and comes in an attractive split grain finish.
