KEF Carina (II) was a cargo ship built in 1967 for Smith's Seashipping of the United Kingdom. The vessel was named after the constellation Carina in the southern sky.The ship was 163.4 meters (536 feet) long, had a beam of 22.2 meters (73 feet), and a draft of 9.9 meters (32 feet). It had a total tonnage of 25,401 gross tons and could carry up to 40,781 cubic meters (1,437,366 cubic feet) of cargo.Carina (II) was powered by a diesel engine that generated 11,385 kilowatts (14,995 brake horsepower) and could propel the ship at a speed of approximately 18 knots (33 kilometers per hour).The ship served in the international cargo trade for many years and changed hands several times through various shipping companies. In 2013, Carina (II) was scrapped in Gadani, Pakistan.KEF Carina (II) was a remarkable vessel that played an important role in global commerce during its time in service. Its name has been carried over to two subsequent ships, KEF Carina (III) (1981) and KEF Carina (IV) (2005), both of which are still operating in the cargo trade.
