Brand: Dynaco

The Dynaco SCA-80 is a vintage tube amplifier manufactured in the 1960s by Dynaco, a well-known audio equipment company in those times. It's commonly referred to as a "beast" in the audio community due to its enormous size and weight, with dimensions of about 23 inches wide, 23 inches deep, and 19 inches tall, and a weight of around 75 pounds. Despite its size, the SCA-80 is renowned for its pure, rich, and detailed audio output, which has earned it a cult following amongst audiophiles, music enthusiasts, and collectors worldwide. The amplifier uses an intimidating total of 80 triode tubes, which include sourced Mullard El34 power tubes and complementary Raytheon 12AU7 dual triodes as driver and preamplifier stages. The SCA-80's reputation is such that it's been studied by audio engineers for decades to understand and recreate its legendary sound quality in modern designs, making it an iconic and collectible piece of audio history. Nevertheless, due to its size, power consumption, and rarity, the Dynaco SCA-80 has become challenging to find in mint condition, driving its value to high numbers in the secondhand market.
