The Balanced Audio Technology VK-42 and VK-42SE are high-performance phono preamps designed to extract the finest details and nuances from vinyl recordings.Both models offer a range of features, including selectable load impedance (47kΩ, 100Ω, and 220Ω), cartridge load capacitance (100pF, 220pF, and 470pF), and gain (40dB and 43dB). The SE version also includes advanced circuitry, such as a wide-range ACL (auto-calibration load) circuit for cartridges with low output, and a higher gain input designed specifically for moving-coil cartridges.The VK-42 and VK-42SE have adjustable RIAA equalization, as well as adjustable subsonic filtering to help eliminate noise in the lower frequency range. Both models also have their MM input cancerous, while the MC input is captured by a low-noise, discrete-component J-FET circuit.The VK-42 and VK-42SE feature low-noise, wide-bandwidth power supplies, with separate regulation for the analog and digital circuitry.
