Brand: Zeta

The zeta (ΞΆ, Greek letter zeta) arm is a feature of spiral galaxies, including our Milky Way, that extend in a roughly perpendicular direction to the main spiral arms. These arms are typically less prominent and less populated with stars and gas than the main arms, but they still play a role in the overall structure of the galaxy. The zeta arm in our Milky Way is believed to contain a significant portion of the Milky Way's non-disk stellar halo, as well as some of its globular clusters. Its exact location and properties are still being studied and debated in the astronomical community.
