Brand: Symfonia

Symfonia Opus 10, also known as Symphony No. 10, is a work for orchestra composed by Polish composer Henryk Górecki in 1992. It is the tenth symphony in the composer's opus numbering system, which is separate from the traditional numbering based on order of composition. The symphony is in three movements, with the first and third movements being relatively short, while the second movement is longer and more expansive. The music is characterized by Górecki's minimalist style, with repeating melodic and harmonic patterns that gradually build in intensity. This technique creates a sense of meditative contemplation and introspection. The symphony was commissioned by the National Philharmonic of Warsaw and premièred by that orchestra under the direction of Antoni Wit on October 15, 1992, at the Polish National Radio Concert Studio in Warsaw, Poland. The work has since become a standard addition to the classical music repertoire, particularly in the minimalist genre.
