It featured advanced playback features such as Dolby B noise reduction, Azimuth Adjustment to optimize sound balance and included Dolby HX Pro Logic surround sound processing. The RX79 also had a High-Tone Zooman History circuit, a process that allowed for precise fine-tuning of the tape’s signal, ensuring the playback of all audio frequency ranges with exceptional clarity. Its shudderless mechanism, as well as platter/spool bearing techniques, provided exceptional sound quality with minimal wow and flutter. Overall, the Sony TC-RX79 was considered a top-performing, high-end cassette tape deck during its era.
