Brand: SAEC

The SAEC C-3 (SAEC stands for Selenaindustric Apparate Edstroh & Cie) was a German naval reconnaissance aircraft used during World War I. It was a biplane of wooden construction with a fabric-covered fuselage and wings. The aircraft was powered by a Benz Bz.IV six-cylinder engine that produced 100 horsepower. The C-3 had a crew of two, a pilot and an observer, and was designed primarily for maritime reconnaissance. In its role, the SAEC C-3 was used for scouting, patrolling, and surveillance tasks over the Baltic Sea and the North Sea. It served in the German Navy's Marineluftstreitkräfte (Marine Air Force) from 1916 until the end of the war in 1918. The C-3 was also used for training purposes by the naval air force academy.Overall, the SAEC C-3 was a successful aircraft for its time and helped to establish the importance of naval aviation during World War I. Its wooden construction and open-frame design made it vulnerable to enemy fire, but its range, endurance, and advanced navigational equipment set it apart from other reconnaissance aircraft of the era. Today, the SAEC C-3 is a historical artifact, with no surviving examples in existence.
