Brand: Radford

The Radford ZD22 is a concept car designed by British automotive design studio Radford Design in collaboration with Avant-Garde Engineering. The ZD22 is a two-seater mid-engine sports car designed to be a modern interpretation of the iconic Lotus Seven and Elva M100.Powered by a 2.2L Ford Duratec engine producing around 250 horsepower, the ZD22 has a top speed of 150 mph and can accelerate from 0-60 mph in under 3.5 seconds. The car's lightweight body, composed mainly of carbon fiber, helps it achieve a power-to-weight ratio of around 300 horsepower per tonne. The design of the Radford ZD22 is reminiscent of classic two-seater sports cars with a simple, clean silhouette and exposed aluminum bits. Vintage racing cues can be seen in the car's low slung body, twin cowl air intakes, and ducktail rear wing. The ZD22 is also features aerodynamic accentuation and functional elements that serve a purpose, such as the adjustable front splitter and rear diffuser. The interior of the Radford ZD22 is equally impressive, featuring a spartan design with open areas that expose the inner workings of the car, while the use of vivid colors, fine quality materials and designed elements offer a modern interpretation of old-school racing aesthetics. The minimalism seen in the interior is accentuated by unconventional seating positions that force the driver and passenger to sit side by side, instead of facing each other. According to Radford Design Studio, this unique seating arrangement is intended to increase the level of engagement between driver and passenger while driving and make it more of a shared experience. In summary, the Radford ZD22 is a stunning concept sports car with a modern twist on classic design elements. Powerful, lightweight, and offering a unique driving experience, the ZD22 is the antidote for collectors of classic sports cars who are craving something different.
