Brand: Moerch

Moerch DACAPO is a Danish music label and record company, founded in 1995 by the conductor, producer, and musicologist Thomas Bongaard Madsen. The label's focus is primarily on Danish classical music, both ancient and modern, with a particular emphasis on performing and recording works by lesser-known Danish composers. The label's name, DACAPO, is an abbreviation of the Latin term "Date du cumulo Prima" (English: "First from the heap") and is used as a directive for choir singers to take up singing from the beginning of a piece, emphasizing the company's commitment to new and unfamiliar repertoire. Over the years, DACAPO has received critical acclaim for its high-quality recordings and contributions to the revival of Danish classical music. The label continues to spearhead new commissioning initiatives, promotional events, and concert series meant to foster appreciation and understanding of Danish classical works. Some of the notable Danish composers whose works have been released by DACAPO include Peder B. Helland, Finn Mortensen, and Niels Gade.
