Brand: Mitsubishi

The Mitsubishi LT-5 was a prototype engine developed by Mitsubishi Motors in the late 1980s. It was designed for use in Formula One racing as part of a partnership between Mitsubishi and Honda. The LT-5 engine featured a 2.65 liter V10 configuration with a DOHC (double overhead camshaft) valvetrain and four valves per cylinder. It produced an impressive 730 horsepower at 12,500 rpm, with a redline of 13,500 rpm. This power was achieved through the use of advanced technologies such as variable intake and exhaust timing, multifuel injection, and multiple spark plugs per cylinder.Unfortunately, the Mitsubishi LT-5 never made it to the racetrack. After Honda decided to exit the Formula One partnership, Mitsubishi chose not to pursue the ambitious project independently. However, many of the technologies developed for the LT-5 engine were later used in Mitsubishi's production cars, including the 3000GT and Diamante.Overall, the Mitsubishi LT-5 remains a fascinating part of motorsports history, showcasing the innovative engine technology capable at the time.
