The Mitsubishi DA-U310 is a Short Takeoff and Vertical Landing (STOVL) variant of the F-35B Lightning II fighter jet developed by Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation. It is designed for use by the Japanese Self-Defense Forces and will be produced under license in Japan. The DA-U310 is equipped with a STOVL system, allowing it to take off and land vertically from small ships or short airfields, providing Japan with a more flexible deployment option for AN/AWQ-23 communications intercept sensor systems. The DA-U310 will replace the aging Mitsubishi F-1 fighter jets in the Japanese fleet.
