Brand: JVC

The JVC JR-S200 (mkI) is an obsolete stereo receiver that was first introduced by JVC (Japan Victor Company) in the 1960s. It was a part of JVC's first line of Hi-Fi audio components known as the Super Stereo Range. This receiver was typically used in connection with active loudspeakers or as a preamplifier for power amplifiers. Key features of the JR-S200 (mkI) include a 30 watt per channel output power, high-gain drivers for each channel, impedance adaptation, and separate input controls for four sources. It also had a tuner for AM and FM radio broadcasts. The receiver utilized tube technology, with a total of six vacuum tubes (four ECC82, one ECL86, and one ECC83) for audio and RF amplification. The North American version, known as the JVC MX-S200, included a stereo phono input for connecting to a turntable.Overall, the JR-S200 (mkI) was a popular and well-regarded receiver in its time due to its excellent audio quality and versatility. However, with the advent of solid-state technology, tube-based equipment like the JVC JR-S200 (mkI) became less common and ultimately obsolete. Today, these vintage receivers are largely regarded as collector's items and may have some value in the audio enthusiast community.
