The Hitachi SR-2004 is an optical disc drive released by Hitachi in 2004. It supports read speeds of up to 12x for DVD-ROM, DVD-RAM, and DVD-RW discs, as well as 24x for CD-ROM and CD-R discs. The drive also features Last Meter Recovery for improved reading of scrratched or damaged discs, and Ahead-32/52x technology for faster transmission of data. It is compatible with Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Windows ME operating systems, as well as Windows 98SE when used with a multimedia controller card. The SR-2004 is no longer in production, but it is still widely available and popular among users who prefer older technology.
