The Garrard RC121 is a vertical-spindle turntable produced by the British company Garrard in the 1960s. Garrard was a subsidiary of EMI, which also owned the Columbia Records label. The RC121 featured a belt drive system, with an AC synchronous motor and two-stage conversion. The turntable also had a cast aluminum platter, aluminum sub-platter, and a thermoplastic dust cover. The RC121 offered anti-skating correction, adjustable VTF (Vertical Tracking Force), and a detachable headshell. The RC121 was a high-end turntable that competed with other well-known brands like Thorens and Dual. It was known for its excellent sound quality, precision engineering, and build quality. The turntable was discontinued in the early 1970s, as demand for analogue turntables began to decline with the rise of digital audio technology.Today, the Garrard RC121 is considered a classic turntable and is highly sought-after by vinyl enthusiasts and collectors. Its reputation for outstanding sound quality and design still resonates with audiophiles, who continue to appreciate the special qualities of well-made analogue music players.
