David Berning earned his BSEE from Union College in Schenectady, New York, and received an M.S.E.E. From the University of Rochester. He went on to obtain an MBA from Harvard in 1971. Berning is an experienced electrical engineer with over four decades of professional experience in the areas of audio and video technologies, digital audio, and audio systems design. He has supplied consulting services to a variety of organizations including manufacturers, laboratories, and audio publications in the consumer electronics, professional audio, and audiophile industries. Berning has also participated as an exhibitor/demonstrator at numerous industry trade shows and seminars. In 1986, he invented the Berning AES/EBU D-1 converter, which is now a well-established standard for professional digital audio.
