Brand: Castle
Castle Isis, also known as Happisburgh Castle, is a 14th-century coastal defense structure located in Happisburgh, Norfolk, England. Originally built as a pele tower to protect the coast against pirates and raiders, the castle was expanded and modified over the centuries to serve as a hunting lodge, a customs station, and a coastguard lookout point. The castle was abandoned in the 19th century and has been gradually deteriorating and eroding due to coastal erosion ever since. Despite efforts to preserve the structure, it now sits precariously on a cliff edge, with much of its base and foundations having washed away. Castle Isis is now a historic landmark and a popular spot for coastal walks and photography, though visitors are advised to approach with caution due to the danger from falling rocks and unstable ground.
