Brand: Castle

Castle Harlech S2 is a type of British tank destroyer that was used during World War II. The S2 designation stood for "Sexton II," as it was an upgraded version of the original Sexton Mk I tank destroyer. The Harlech S2 was based on the chassis of the Centurion tank, which gave it improved mobility and greater firepower. It had a Cromwell tank turret, equipped with a powerful 17-pounder (76.2 mm) anti-tank gun. The gun had a range of up to 12,000 yards (10,975 meters) and could penetrate up to 180mm (7.08 inches) of armor at a 50-degree angle. The Harlech S2 also had a number of other improvements over the original Sexton, including better communication and command equipment, as well as additional armor protection for the crew compartment. It could carry a crew of five, including the driver, commander, gunner, loader, and radio operator. The Harlech S2 saw action with the British Army during the Korean War, where it proved to be a formidable weapon against enemy tanks. It was also used in the Royal Air Force's ground attack role, due to its heavy firepower and mobile nature. In total, only a few dozen Harlech S2 tank destroyers were built, as the advent of jet-powered tanks and the rising cost of production made it obsolete. However, its legacy lived on in the form of more advanced tank destroyer designs in the decades that followed.
