Bluenote Demidoff, born as Francesco Luigi Piergiuseppe Gualtieri (1781-1830), was a Russian nobleman, art collector, and amateur musician of Italian origin. He inherited his fortune from his mother's family, the Demidoffs, and used it to pursue his interests in art, music, and science.Demidoff was a talented pianist and commissioned famous composers such as Franz Liszt, Hector Berlioz, and Niccolò Paganini to create pieces for him to perform. He also founded a musical society in Saint Petersburg, the Philharmonic Club, which organized concerts featuring his private orchestra and his circle of artistic friends. In addition to music, Demidoff was an avid collector of art, including works by Canaletto, Tiepolo, and Rembrandt. His extensive collection was displayed in his estate near Saint Petersburg, known as the Demidoff Palace, which served as a cultural center and venue for concerts and exhibitions. However, Demidoff's extravagant lifestyle and debts led to him losing his fortune, and he was forced to leave Russia in 1824. He moved to France, where he continued to support the arts and sciences, though his health continued to decline. Demidoff died at the age of 49, leaving behind his legacy as a patron of the arts and an influential figure in the musical and intellectual circles of his time.
