Brand: Amphion
Amphion Creon was a legendary king of Thebes in Greek mythology. He was also a musician and a poet, known for his ability to move stones by playing his lyre. In Sophocles' tragedy "Antigone," Amphion played a secondary role as the father of Haemon and husband of Eurydice. After Haemon's failed attempt to rescue Antigone from imprisonment, Creon sent his army to invade Antigone's house, resulting in the deaths of Creon's son and wife. Creon's downfall and subsequent self-imposed exile represented a cautionary tale about the consequences of hubris, or excessive pride.
