The AMC XIA100 was a Chinese combat vehicle developed during the 1980s by the Second Automotive Works (SAW) in Harbin. It was the first Chinese-designed and built main battle tank (MBT) and served as the basis for subsequent Chinese tank development programs. The XIA100 had a weight of 34 tons, a crew of four, and was armed with a 100mm rifled tank gun. It was also equipped with explosive reactive armor (ERA) for added protection against enemy anti-tank weapons. The tank's engines could provide the vehicle with a maximum speed of 50 km/h on roads and 20 km/h off-road. However, the XIA100 had limitations in terms of mobility and firepower, and its production was subsequently discontinued in favor of newer tank designs based on the Type 96 and Type 98 MBTs.
