The AMC B1-30 was a World War II-era bomber aircraft developed by the American company, Douglas Aircraft Company, under contract with the Army Air Forces. It was a modified version of the B-18 Bolo bomber, and its designation "B1" was intended to signify this relationship. The B1-30 was powered by three Pratt & Whitney Twin Wasp 14-cylinder engines, each producing 1,200 horsepower. It had a wingspan of 122 feet and a length of 84 feet. The aircraft could carry a payload of up to 5,100 pounds and had a maximum speed of 225 miles per hour at 18,000 feet. The B1-30 was used in a number of roles during the war, including strategic bombing, anti-submarine warfare, and transport operations. It was also used for weather reconnaissance and mapping.Approximately 175 B1-30 bombers were produced between 1941 and 1945. After the war, many were sold as surplus or were retired to storage. A few B1-30s have survived and are preserved in museums and private collections today.
