Brand: Acoustat

The Acoustat Model Eight is a high-end, electrostatic speaker designed and manufactured by Acoustat, a US-based speaker company. It was first introduced in 1979 and has since been considered a legendary speaker in the audiophile community. The Acoustat Model Eight features a unique electrodynamic panel driver that utilizes a thin, translucent diaphragm to create sound waves. This technology, originally developed by Harvard University professor, Lincoln Walsh, provides a nearly perfect pistonic motion for exceptional low-level detail, transient speed, and frequency extension. The driver panels are arranged in a D'Appolito array configuration, which provides consistently smooth response and low distortion both in the center and off-axis. The Model Eight also features a four-way crossover and proprietary spider-leg stand mounting. The Model Eight's performance has been praised in audio reviews for its detailed and transparent sound, as well as its exceptional imaging and spatial reproduction. Its frequency response goes down to 35 Hz (-6 dB), making it suitable for use in a variety of listening environments. While production ceased in the mid-1980s due to high costs, the Acoustat Model Eight remains a highly collectible and sought-after speaker among audiophiles and music enthusiasts.
